Another Day in Florence: Working Hard, but Playing Harder

After a week and a half of living in beautiful Florence, we are finally beginning to get a routine down. Today started off as an early morning. I got up and began brewing coffee around 7am. The other girls in my room and I ate a gourmet breakfast (aka cereal and bananas) and headed off to our 7th day of Dr. DeMaria’s class. Florence decided to be kind to us today and showed a little bit of sun for the first time in a while. I’ll never be able to quite describe the walk to our classroom in the morning. People are beginning to get up and out onto the street, you can smell the espresso and croissants and hear the early morning chatter. Of course, passing the bright and colorful Duomo on the way to class is a reason to get out of bed alone. There is truly nothing like it.
We are making tremendous progress in our research and many of us had our first interview with an Italian woman today regarding their healthcare! The recruitment process has been a hard one, but nothing of quality occurs without a little hard work. We will soon be collecting our data and starting to analyze each interview to further our research. After our hard work today, we were treated at Ganzo tonight with a delicious buffet. Two of our group members, Scotlyn and Leslie, helped prepare the delightful meal. We can’t wait for next week!
