Diner Days

After a Memorial Day in Italy filled with red, white, and blue, a small part of me longed for a delicious, juicy American burger. To satisfy my homemade American cooking craving, I decided to check out the American Diner after class for an early dinner. Let me just tell ya, the name says it all! As soon as you walk in, it is like stepping into a different era—the good ol’ 1950’s! There were checker board patterned floors, bright florescent lights, and our waitress was even wearing roller skates. I couldn’t help but feel like Sandy from Grease, especially with all of the classic rock music playing in the background.

The diner absolutely does not disappoint. The quality is good—the quantity is better! I ordered a bismarck burger and an oreo milkshake. It was the best decision I had ever made. The burger was made tender and had fried eggs, tomatoes, and lettuce. With the weather progressively getting hotter in Florence, the milkshake hit my taste buds perfectly. It was

thick and smooth with small oreo chunks blended within it. To say it was “yummers” would be an understatement! Cheers to fast food and old fashioned diners!
