Gelateria de Beyoncé

Today was our second day of class at Florence University of the Art (FUA)! We started this morning off with Dr. DeMaria’s class where were dug deeper into the world of qualitative research and the methods it entails. We discussed how to become stronger writers, how to recruit women to be a part of our study, and how to conduct our interviews with our participants. As a special treat, Dr. DeMaria took us all to her favorite gelato shop, or gelateria in Italian, called Edoardo which is right next to the Duomo! This spot is also where Beyoncé got gelato on her trip to Florence! Though it was a wet and chilly morning, we all enjoyed our delicious gelato. I had red wine and lemon sorbetto - and there were amazing!

Tonight we enjoyed an Aperitivo , which is similar to an appetizer hour, hosted at the FUA student run restaurant Ganzo. This event is held every Wednesday from 6-10pm and is open to the public. It costs 5 euros, which allows you to have unlimited food and one drink. The students taking the Food, Community, and Culture class help prepare some of the food served! Food served tonight consisted of roasted tomatoes, sausage in tomato sauce, and pasta with pesto. It was a great time meeting other FUA students and employees, getting to know the FUA campus better, and trying the delicious food some of our classmates made!
